City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami FL 33133 Dear Mr. Odio: The Miami Herald would like to hold its 1994 Tropic Hunt in Coconut Grove on April 24, 1994 and I am hereby requesting a per- sonal appearance before the City Commission at the September 7, 1993 to obtain approval for this date. I understand there is a city ordinance that prohibits holding more than two events in Coconut Grove in one month, and we are asking for an exception to this ordinance. The Tropic Hunt is a very popular and prestigious event, which last year drew over 30,000 participants to the city of Miami Beach and in 1992 over 25,000 to the city of Coral Gables. We have discussed our plans with members of the Coconut Grove Stand- ing Festival Committee and they are very supportive. Because the Hunt is such a complex event, requiring months of planning, it is imperative that we receive official approval from the city far in advance. Therefore, we hope you will add our request to your agenda for the September 7, 1993 commission meeting. We look forward to hearing from you.
