RESOLUTION NO. 9 3- 494
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
AND/OR HIS DESIGNEE TO SOLICIT SPONSORSHIP
AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM PRIVATE AND PUBLIC
BUSINESS INTERESTS TO CONDUCT THE "MIAMI
HISPANIC MEDIA CONFERENCE ("CONFERENCE") AND
FUTURE RELATED CONFERENCES; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND/OR HIS
DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY AGREEMENTS,
IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY,
FOR SUCH SPONSORSHIPS AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has become the "Hispanic Media
Capital of the Americas"; and
WHEREAS, a wealth of top experts in Hispanic marketing,
public relations, advertising, and media work together to reach
the U.S. Hispanic population and the population of Latin America;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami, through its Department of
Development and Housing Conservation, has planned and organized
the Miami Hispanic Media Conference ("Conference") for the
previous two years; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager has authorized the establishment
of a new marketing unit in the Department of Personnel Management
that will be planning, organizing, directing and initiating fund-
raising for said Conference and future related conferences; and

WHEREAS, the Conference is structured to promote Miami as
the Hispanic Media Capital of the Americas and to stimulate
awareness and increase demand for Miami's Media and Entertainment
experts, resources, and facilities, thereby creating additional
jobs and tax dollars; and
WHEREAS, many companies, both public and private, are
interested in participating by serving as sponsors of said event;
and
WHEREAS, City Commission authorization is required to
actively solicit financial support from private business
interests, said contributions in the form of sponsorships, to
help implement the Conference and future related conferences;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The City Manager and/or designee are hereby
authorized to solicit sponsorships and financial support from
private and public business interests to conduct the "Miami
Hispanic Media Conference" and future related conferences.
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized`/ to
execute the necessary agreement(s) in a form acceptable to the
City Attorney, for said sponsorships and financial support.
The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with
all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney,
including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable
City Charter and Code provisions.

Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 22nd day of July P 1993.
