HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-93-0368J-93--4).0 6/2/93 a RESOLUTION NO. 0 A RESOLUTION CODESIGNATING SOUTHWEST 25TH ROAD FROM SOUTHWEST 1ST AVENUE TO SOUTHWEST =_ 9TH AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS MARY BRZCKELL ROAD"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO -- TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICES. WHEREAS, Mary Brickell was the individual most directly responsible for the design and development of "Brickell Hammock" and "The Roads" areas of the City of Miami in the early 1920's; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Brickell was also one of the City of Miami's most important pioneers and is worthy of recognition as one of _ the City's most notable women; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 10761, adopted July 12, 1990, created the Miami Street Codesignation Review committee and entrusted said Committee with the responsibility of reviewing street codesignation requests and making recommendations to the City Commission in its determination as to whether or not a street should be codesignated or a marker or plaza should be designated; and WHEREAS, pursuant to City Commission directive, the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee, at its May 11, 1993 meeting, reviewed the Administration's proposal and recommended the eodesi.g.-na.t..1-on of 801,1;hwest 25th. Ro,_j,d- from Southwest lsU. Avenue to Southwest 9th Avenue, Miami, Florida., as "Marx Brickell. Road"; and WHEREAS, the Committee further recommended the waiver of Section 54-91(5) of the Miami City Code which requires that numbered street codesignations shall not exceed five (5) blocks in length for said codesignation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Southwest 25th Road from Southwest 1st Avenue to Southwest 9th Avenue, Miami, Florida, is hereby codesignated as "MARY BRICKELL ROAD". Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Departments of Police, Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services, General Services Administration/Solid Waste, the Dade County Public Works Department and the United States Postal Service.
