Funding is to be from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 290991-875. The police department reviewed the bid submitted by Triad Canine Training, Inc., for the provision of a trained police dog. Triad was the only vendor to submit a bid and meets the department's requirements and specifications. This dog will be used by an experienced handler who will only need two weeks familiarization with the dog rather than the 6 or 8 weeks required with untrained dogs. This will result in less lost time for the officer and the dog, resulting in a savings to the city. It is, therefore, recommended that the bid of Triad Canine Training, Inc., for the provision of a trained police dog, be accepted. Funding, in an amount not to exceed $6,250, is available through the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 290991-875.
