A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF A COMPLETE COMPUTER PACKAGE, INCLUDING ONE ACERPAC MULTIMEDIA WORKSTATION, EIGHT ACER 488 PCS, ONE MICROTEK COLOR SCANNER, AND TWO ACERLASER PRINTERS, FOR A TOTAL APPROXIMATE VALUE OF $80,000, AS PART OF THE CHINA EXTERNAL TRADE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (CETRA) FOR THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA'S "VERY WELL MADE IN TAIWAN" INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN, WHICH HELD AN EXHIBIT IN MIAMI ON MARCH 24, 1993, SAID DONATED EQUIPMENT TO BE USED BY THE NEIGHBORHOOD ENHANCEMENT TEAM (NET) PROGRAM. WHEREAS, on March 24, 1993, the Coordination Council for North American Affairs of the Republic of China on Taiwan in Miami hosted a touring international exhibition of new products from Taiwan, coordinated by the China External Trade Development Council (CETRA) as part of the current "Very Well Made In Taiwan" international campaign; and WHEREAS, the exhibit, oomprised of Taiwan's 20 best designed and best made products as judged by an international panel in Taipei, was designed to call international attention to the high quality, value-added produots being made by Taiwan -based manufacturers; and WHEREAS, as part of this event and as a gesture of goodwill, CETRA offered to donate a complete Taiwan made computer package, INEBTIN�t� aF APR 5 93 s Whioh included one AoerPAC Multimedia Workstation, eight Aber 4+ PCs, one Microtek Color Scanner, and two AoerLaser printers, for i' a total approximate value of approximately $50,000 to be used by the Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) program; and WHEREAS, the NET program can use said equipment to significantly improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of services to the community; and WHEREAS, said equipment will be provided at no cost to the City of Miami and will facilitate the City's efforts in providing assistance and better serve the community; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The donation of a complete computer package, including one AoerPAC Multimedia Workstation, eight Aoer 486 PCs, one Microtek Color Scanner, and two AoerLaser printers, for a total approximate value of $50,000, is hereby accepted as part of the China External Trade Development Council (CETRA) for the Republic of China's "Very Well Made in Taiwan" -2- Campaign, whioh held an exhibit in Miami. on Maroh 24, 11 donated equipment to be used by the Neighborhood Enhanoe (NET) program. SUBJECT Resolution Accepting Donation REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: ; RECOMMENDATIONS It is respectfully requested that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the donation of a complete computer package with a value of approximately $50,0001 including one - AcerPAC multimedia workstation, eight Acer 466 PCs, one Microtek color scanner, and two AcerLaser printers, for the Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) Program as part of the China External Trade Development Council (CETRA) for the Republic of China on _ Taiwan's "Very Well Made in Taiwan" international campaign, an exhibit that visited Miami last March 24, 1993. — BACKGROUNDS The Coordination Council for North American Affairs of the Republic of China on Taiwan in Miami hosted a tourist international exhibition of new products from Taiwan.
