A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PARTIAL USE OF
CERTAIN STREETS AND THOROUGHFARES DURING THE
PROCESSION TO BE CONDUCTED BY RENOVACION
CARISMATICA CATOLICA HISPANA ON MAY 15, 1993,
SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE
DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND
INSPECTION SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT TO CONTROL TRAFFIC FLOW ON SAID
STREETS TO BE UTILIZED AS PART OF THE
PROCESSION ROUTE; CONDITIONING ALL APPROVALS
AND AUTHORIZATIONS HEREIN UPON THE ORGANIZERS
PAYING ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES
AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID
EVENT AND OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE
CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY
MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE.
WHEREAS, Renovaoion Carismatioa Catolioa Hispana will
conduct a procession on Saturday, May 15, 1993, in Downtown Miami
as part of the IX Charismatic Conference to be held at the Miami
Convention Center;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The reoitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.

Section 2. The partial use of certain streets and =
thoroughfares, as specified in Seotion 2 hereof, on Saturday,
Way 6, 1993, in Downtown Miami, between the hours of 7:30 P.P. to
11:30 P.M. during the procession to be conducted by Renovaoion
Carismatioa Catolioa Hispana is hereby approved subject to the
issuanoe of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue �—
and Inspection Services.
Section 3. The Police Department is hereby authorized to
control traffio flow on the streets of the Downtown area to be
utilized as part of the procession as specified below:
Biscayne Boulevard northbound from Southeast fourth
Street to Third Street (with the exception of the
outside northbound lane).
Southeast Fourth Street from Biscayne Boulevard to
Southeast Second Avenue (with the exception of the
outside eastbound lane).
Section 4. The partial use of the speoified streets in
Downtown Miami during said event is hereby approved, subject to
the exercise of complete oontrol over such use by the Department
of Police after giving all due oonsideration to the safety and
traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious
institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said
arterials.
Section 5. The herein approvals and authorizations are
hereby conditioned upon the organizers paying all costs of City
services and applicable fees associated with said event and

obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as
prescribed by the City manager or his designee.
Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective
immeditely upon its adoption.

Procession by Renovacion
Carismatica Catolica Hispana

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution concerning a procession to be conducted by
Renovacion Carismatica Catolica Hispana on May 15, 1993, approving the
use of certain streets in Downtown Miami. This authorization is
conditioned upon the organizers paying for all costs of City services
and applicable fees and obtaining insurance to protect the City in the
amount as prescribed by the City Manager or his designee.

BACKGROUND:
The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate
legislation to approve the use of certain streets and thoroughfares
r` during the procession to be conducted by Renovacion Carismatica
Catolica Hispana on May 15, 1993 between the hours of 7:30 P.M. to
11:30 P.M.
This event is a well -organized annual religious event. Major
thoroughfares will remain partially open to vehicular traffic, thereby
-=; minimizing traffic disruption in the area of the procession. The
event organizers have met with the Special Events Committee, including
the Police Department, to discuss the procession.
