Home My WebLink AboutR-93-0086J-93-92 1/19/93 RESOLUTION NO. 9 3 .- 86 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF ROYAL RENT - A - CAR FOR THE FURNISHING OF AUTOMOBILE RENTAL SERVICE ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR WITH THE OPTION TO EXTEND FOR AN ADDITIONAL ONE (1) YEAR PERIOD FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AT A TOTAL PROPOSED FIRST YEAR COST OF $7,656.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM ACCOUNT NUMBERS 280204- 610 AND 280205-610; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THIS SERVICE AND THEREAFTER TO EXTEND THIS CONTRACT AT THE SAME PRICE, TERMS AND CONDITIONS SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received December 21, 1992 for the furnishing of automobile rental service on a contract basis for a period of one (1) year with the option to extend for an additional one (1) year period for the Department Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to twenty-six (26) potential bidders and one (1) bid was received; and WHEREAS, funds for this services are available from Account Numbers 280204-610 and 280205-610; and WHEREAS, the Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department has need for two (2) cars in order to transport instructors and training materials to the various educational facilities; and cm OOlaMtssloff MME?LNG OF FEB 0 9 M Rewlutlm Nm 93- 86 11 WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of the Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services Department recommend the bid received. from Royal Rent -A -Oar be accepted as the only responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The December 21, 1992 bid of Royal Rent A Car for furnishing automobile rental service on a contract basis for the period of one (1) year with the option to extend for an additional one (1) year period for the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services at a total proposed first year cost of $7,656.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Numbers 2280204-610 and 280205--610. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized'/to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue Purchase Orders for this service and thereafter to extend this contract at the same price, terms and conditions subject to the availability of funds. 1/ The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. 93- 86 ------- ---- -- Section 4. The vendor is Royal Rent-A- Car, hispanic minority owned, located at 1199 N.W. 42 Avenue, Miami, Florida 33126. Royal Rent--A-Car was the sole bidder. The State of Florida Health and Rehabilitative Services' Office o°Tr Emergency Medical Services has provided the fire department with funding for an Accident Prevention Program. The vehicles are needed to transport instructors and training materials to the various educational facilities as well as City of Miami business occupancies in order to provide life saving training to the citizens of the City of Miami.
