HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-93-0080J-93-102 2/2/93 RESOLUTION NO. 93- 80 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION EXPRESSING APPROVAL OF THE APPLICATION FOR A THREE-DAY STATE LIQUOR PERMIT BY FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL, RESTAURANT & HOTEL EXPOSITION, FOR THE DISPLAY BY MANUFACTURERS OR DISTRIBUTORS OF PRODUCTS LICENSED UNDER STATE BEVERAGE LAW, AND ALSO FOR CONSUMPTION OF SUCH BEVERAGES ON THE PREMISES OF THE COCONUT GROVE CONVENTION CENTER, MIAMI, FLORIDA, DURING THE PERIOD OF JULY 23-26, 1993, SUCH APPROVAL BEING A STATUTORY REQUISITE PRIOR TO THE STATE'S ISSUANCE OF SAID PERMIT. WHEREAS, Seotion 661.421 TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, the State Beverage Law states that in convention halls, ooliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated oity, town or board of county commissioners, the direotor may, in his disoretion, issue a permit for not more than five oalendar days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of produots Licensed under the Beverage Law and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only; and WHEREAS, the State Beverage Direotor requires the approval of such permit's issuanoe from the City Commission for liquor display and oonsumption during the herein show to be held at the C000nut Grove Convention Center in July, 1993; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: cm C068MION MEETING OF FEB B 9 1993 ass utim Na 93— 80 ass Seotion 1. The recitals and findings oontained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by referenoe = thereto and inoorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Seotion. Seotion 2. The Miami City Commission hereby approves the applloation by Florida International Restaurant V Hotel Exposition, Ino. for a three-day liquor permit to allow display by manufaoturers or distributors of produots lioensed under the Beverage Law and to allow consumption of suoh beverages on the premises of the C000nut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida, during the period of July 23-25, 1993. Odio, three-day liquor. permit City Manager ENCLOSURES: on 07/23-25/93 a RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution expressing its approval of the application for a three-day State liquor permit by Florida International ='x Restaurant & Hotel Exposition, Inc., for the display by ==4, manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the State Beverage Law, and also for consumption of such beverages on the premises of the Coconut Grove Convention Center, Miami, Florida, during the period of July 23-25, 1993. (Lessee's request attached.) BACKGROUND: The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities has prepared the attached legislation. The Commission's approval of the application of a three-day liquor permit for FoodPack of the Americas, Inc., pursuant to Section 561.421 TEMPORARY CONVENTION PERMITS, of the State Beverage Law which states that "in convention halls, coliseums, and similar type buildings where there is an existing beverage license, upon the approval of the incorporated city, town or board of county commissioners, the director may, in his discretion, issue a permit for not more than five calendar days for the display by manufacturers or distributors of products licensed under the Beverage Law; and may authorize consumption of such beverages on the premises only". The State Beverage Director requires the request to emanate from the City Commission. The liquor will be dispensed free of charge during the Florida International Restaurant & Hotel Exposition, .
