RE: Florida spar men
Beautification Grant Application = —
rBrickell Avenue Median
The Brickell Area Association (BAA) Beautification Committee has
embarked on a major effort to improve the Brickell Avenue Median.
Under the direction of the BAA, a Landscaping Plan has been
prepared, including presentation graphics, to raise funds from
adjacent property owners for the improvements; including a
_{ maintenance program. At the same time, construction drawings are
being prepared for the median; from 5th Street to 15th Road.
In addition to private fund raising, the BAA requested that the
Downtown Development Authority investigate additional sources of
funding; i.e., grants and potential reimbursement from FEMA for
lost trees, etc. At this time, the DDA is preparing a
Beautification Grant Application for submission to the Florida
Department of Transportation on behalf of the BAA.
The submission deadline is February I 1993. City Commission
Resolutions are required as part of the application process.
Item CA-17 on the January 1!:6 1993 Agenda is a similar request
regarding a Grant Application'for the Brickell Avenue Median from
SE 15th to SE 26th Roads.
IT IS RESPECTFULLY REQUESTED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION ADOPT THE
ATTACHED RESOLUTIONS ALONG WITH THE ITEM CA-17 RESOLUTIONS.
