REFERENCES City Manag ENCLOSURES: itF00OMMENDATION: It is respectfully requested that the City Commission appoint four (4) architects or landscape architects to serve as members of the Urban Development Review Board. BACKGROUND: The Urban Development Review Board (City Code Sections 62-83 through 62-88) assists the Director of the Planning, Building and Zoning Department by making informed professional recommendations on the architectural, landscape and urban design aspects of highly visible building projects. Ordinance No. 10789, adopted September 27, 1990 requires that, of the ten (10) members, a minimum of five (5) members must be architects and allows the remaining five (5) members to be either registered architects or landscape architects. Presently, the Board has four (4) architects, two (2) landscape architects and four (4) vacancies. Three of these vacancies were created due to the expiration of members' terms. The fourth vacancy was created due to the removal of Alberto Gonzalez from the Board in accordance with the Official Rules and Procedures which states that a member shall be immediately removed from office after three (3) unexcused absences. On February 13, 1992, by Resolution 92-112, Mr. Alberto Gonzalez was appointed to serve fin the urban Development Review Board for a term expiring December 31, 1994. Mr. Gonzalez has failed to attend any of the four meetings which the Board has held subsequent to his appointment. According to the Official Rules and Procedures of the Urban Development Review Board, a member shall be Immediately removed from office after three unexcused absences. I would like to request that you may nominate another qualified person to fill Mr, Gonzalez's position on the Urban Development Review Board.
