INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
TO Honorable Mayor and
Members of the City Commission
FROM : Ces io

Recommendation:
DATE OCT a "j 1993 FILE
SUBJECT: Department Name Change
REFERENCES:
ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt an
ordinance amending the Code of the City of Miami, Florida
changing the name of the Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services
Department to the Department of Fire -Rescue.
Backaround:
The official title of the Department of Fire, Rescue and
Inspection Services is found to be very cumbersome and rarely
used by the public and other government entities. Fire
Department staff and the Miami Association of Fire Fighters have
agreed that it would be more appropriate to change the name to
Department of Fire -Rescue.
