BACKGROUND Pursuant to Planning Advisory Board Resolution 21-93, the attached amendment revises the number of meetings required annually of Planning Advisory Board members. Over the past several years, due to the decreasing number of items brought before the Planning Advisory Board, it has become more reasonable to combine the two monthly Board meetings into one. The City Code presently requires removal of board members absent from five (5) or more board meetings per year. In light of the compressed meeting schedule of the Planning Advisory Board, it now appears logical to increase the maximum number of missed meetings for that board to six (6) per year. LEGAL DESCRIPTION PETITION Consideration of amending Chapter 62, Section 62-52 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, to provide that members of the Planning Advisory Board shall be allowed six (6) absences instead of five (5). PLANNING RECOWENDATION Approval BACKGROUND AND At its meeting of May 12th, 1993, the Planning Advisory Board adopted ANALYSIS Resolution 21-93 by a vote of 5 to 0 to request an increase in the ^umber :• allowed absences for "moors of that board from five (5) to six "5) per Calendar year. Over the past few years, due to the decrea51ng numtt- 04 ,tees brought before the Planning Advisory Board, it has become exped'ert hold two required board meetings on one evening, per month. 'here4ore. •1 ! "Noo r misses one evening, he or she is counted absent from two meet"gs. The City Code presently requires mandatory removal of board members ease^t from five (5) or more board meetings per Calendar year. In light o' the compressed meeting schedule of the Planning Advisory Board, it now Apoea•s logical to increase the maximum number of absences for that board to s-x 6 per calendar year. The dove, mnt silo reviewed the possibility of recommending re -institution of "excused" absences, which were deleted ,n 1964, but judged that the amsWas nt now proposed is fair and equitable and that no further liberalisation is warranted.
