ORDINANCE NO.
11043
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 14-26(c)(1) OF
THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
AMENDED, BY REQUIRING THAT THE TERM OF THE
CITY COMMISSIONER SERVING AS CHAIRPERSON OF
THE DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY BOARD BE
REVIEWED BY THE CITY COMMISSION ON OR ABOUT
JUNE 1ST OF EACH CALENDAR YEAR, RESULTING IN
THE SELECTION OF A NEW CHAIRPERSON OR THE
REAPPOINTMENT OF THE EXISTING CHAIRPERSON;
CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION, SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the members of the City Commission desire to
implement a policy whereby the terms of all Commissioners serving
as chairpersons of City boards are reviewed on or about June 1st,
of each calendar year; and
WHEREAS, a City Commissioner serves as Chairperson on the
Downtown Development Authority Board;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 14-26(c)(1) of the Code of the City
of Miami, Florida, as amended, is hereby amended in the following
particulars: I/
Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted.
Underscored words and/or figures shall be added. The
remaining provisions are now in effect and remain unchanged.
Asterisks indicate omitted and unchanged material.

"Sec. 14-26. Downtown development authority board -
Composition; appointment and terms of
office of members; filling of vacancies.
(c) The board shall be constituted as follows:
(1) A member of the city commission shall be
chairperson of the board and the twenty-
ninth member and his/her term as said
chairperson shall be reviewed by the
city commission on or about June 1st of
each calendar year. resulting in the
selection of a new chairperson or the
reappointment of the existing
chairperson.
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of Ordinances insofar
as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of
this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 3. If any section, part of section, paragraph,
clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the
remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall become effective thirty
(30) days after final reading and adoption thereof.

The attached proposed ordinances, prepared pursuant to your
direction at the November 12, 1992 City Commission Meeting, if
adopted, will amend the City Code to require that the terms of
City Commissioners serving as Chairpersons on the Downtown
Development Authority Board and the International Trade Board be
reviewed by the City Commission on or about June 1st of each
calendar year.
The ordinances have been transmitted to the Legislative
Administrator for placement on the January 14, 1993 City
Commission Meeting Agenda.
