Attachment MJD s awr cc: VMs. Beverly Counts Rodrigues Mr. Cesar ©dio January 15, 1993 City Manager 3500 Pan American Dr. Miami, Fl. 33133 Dear Mr. Odio, I am requesting an opportunity for myself and residents of West Coconut Grave to address city commissioners at your meeting on February il, 1993. We are having a continuing and growing problem with drug sales in our neighborhood. It has gotten so bad that many street corners are now manned by drug pushers who are more and more using gun fire to protect their turf. Those corners are Williams and Plaza, Williams and Hibiscus, Williams and Elizabeth and the corner of Thomas and Elizabeth, which is behind the Mini Park on Grand and Elizabeth, a major site of public drunkeness and drug traffiking. We have noticed an increase in drug traffic in our neighborhood, where people from the outside come into buy drugs because it is not allowed in their neighborhoods. Vot only do we see people driving expensive cars, but buyers also come through in city and county vehicles during the day, stopping on street corners, and buying drugs. Florida Power and Light also apparently has employees who use, because their trucks have been reported stopping on these same corners to do business with drug dealers. Our children are afraid to play outside, and although we have called police time and time again, nothing is getting done. But we are determined to get something done. We would like to appear on the agenda after 6:30 pm at the February 11 meeting. Thank you very much and we look forward to seeing you then. cc: Sincerely, Beverly Counts Rodrigues (w) 471-6726 (h) 444-6415 Mayor Xavier Suarez Commissioner Miriam Alonso Commissioner Miller Dawkins Commissioner victor DeY'urre Commissioner J.
