Dear Mr. Odio:
JxWzy 14,1993
This is a follow up to our "Request for Assistance" letter to the City Commission, dated
December 29, 1992.
Mr. Pedro Hernandez, Chief of the Highway Dhwon for Dade County Public Works, is
waiting for a 'RESOLUTION* from the City Commission in support of our "Street Closures"
project before proceeding with the planning study we have requested This part of the process
is cnxial because other departments of the City, County and State are on hold awaiting this
action by the Commission. We are in no way suggesting that the City or the Commission has
been delaying this Resolution. Our association failed to realize that we had to nuke a formal
request.
Therefore, we are asking to be placed on the Agenda in order to make a presentation in regard
to this project. Though this is not an "emergency as such", it is urgent because we have been
working oa the project for over five years, and so many others are awaiting the out come of
our appearance before the Commission.
Whatever consideration you can give us will be most appreciated.
Sincere%,

On February 9, 1993, by Motion 93-111, the Miami City Commission,
at my request, directed the City administration to conduct a
study for the area of Bay Heights and Natoma Manor pertaining to
traffic access and the diversion of through traffic for the area
bounded by South Miami Avenue/South Bayshore Drive, South Dixie
Highway, and S.W. 17 Avenue.
The City administration will undertake a three-month study and
prepare alternatives for diverting traffic flow. These
alternatives will be considered at a public meeting sponsored by
the Planning Advisory Board. Any alternative traffic measure
which is agreed on by residents and recommended by the Public
Works and Planning, Building and Zoning Departments will be
considered in advertised public hearings to be conducted by the
Planning Advisory Board and by the City Commission, tentatively
scheduled for June and July, respectively.
Nothing has been decided; nothing has been determined. The study
itself will generate alternatives for public consideration.
You should be aware it has been City Commission policy to look to
those who may benefit from a traffic control measure (barricade)
to participate in the cost of the improvement.
Please contact Christina Abrams, NET Administrator, Coconut Grove
Service Center, 2820 McFarlane Road, telephone 579-6018, if you -
have any comments or questions.
