RESOLUTION NO . 9 c1— 813
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AN INDIVIDUAL AS A
MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND SANITATION
EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT TRUST FOR A TERM AS
DESIGNATED HEREIN; FURTHER, CONFIRMING THE
SELECTION OF AN INDIVIDUAL BY THE AFSCME
BARGAINING UNIT, AS A MEMBER OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND SANITATION
EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT TRUST, FOR A TERM AS
DESIGNATED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, the term of Rose Gordon, an appointee of the City
Commission to the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation
Employees' Retirement Trust, expires on November 30, 1994; and
WHEREAS, the term of Isabel Kato, one of the American
Federation of State, County and Munioipal Employees Local 1907
("AFSCME") bargaining unit's appointments, expires on
November 30, 1994;, and
WHEREAS, AFSCME has selected Isabel Kato as its appointee to
said Trust Board for a term to expire November 30, 1996;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individual is hereby appointed
as a member of the City of Miami General Employees' and
Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board of Trustees to serve

Section 2. The following individual, selected by the
AFSCME bargaining unit, is hereby confirmed as a member of the

Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
j immediately upon its adoption.

Subject: Resolution reappointing individuals to serve
on GESE Retirement Board
Recommendation:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution re -appointing two members to the City of Miami
GESE Retirement Board of Trustees.
Background:
City Code Sections 40-226 and 40-227 provide for the appointment of
a nine member board of trustees to administer and manage the
retirement plan known as the City of Miami General Employees' and
Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust. of these nine members one
is selected by the City Manager, two by the general employees
(AFSCME) two by the sanitation employees (LIU) and four independent
trustees selected by the commission from lists submitted by AFSCME
and LIU.
Effective November 30, 1994, two of our present trustees, Isabel
Kato and Rose Gordon Is, terms on the Board will expire. Isabel Kato
is one of the direct AFSCME appointments and Rose Gordon was
selected by the commission from a list submitted by AFSCME. Charlie
Cox, President of AFSCME Local 1907 has requested the Commission's
cooperation in confirming these two reappointments.
