'••, i � • •� � 1�1 '1 Ir N • • %V r DID wIM AS, Florida State Statute 932.7055, as amended, authorizes the expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for law enforcement and anti -drug education purposes not considered normal operating expenses; and. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 89-856, adopted on September 28, 1989, authorized the supplemental funding of the Alternatives Program, in the amount of $55, 000; and WHEREAS, because of the value of the Program and the need for its services the Police Department increased allocations to $260,000 (Resolution Nos. 90-944, 92-201, 93-551 and 93-657); and WHEREAS, the continued need for the services of the Alternatives Program requires that an additional. $70,000 be allocated to the Program; and WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has recommended adoption of this resolution and has determined that the expenditures proposed comply with Florida, State Statute 932.7055, as amended; and WHEREAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for this program axe available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund.; CITY COMMISSION 1-EET?1`1G OF Resolution No. 94- 799 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CObMSSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution axe hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. An increase in the fuming for the Alternatives Program 3n the amount of $70,000 is hereby authorized, with funds therefor, in the aforesaid amount, being allocated from the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247, such expenditure having been certified by the Chief of Police as being in compliance with Florida State Statute 932.7055, as amended. BACKGROUND: The Police Department supports the efforts of those groups responsible for, and dedicated to, the education of the public in - the area of drug abuse. The Alternatives Program targets those high risk high school students and chemically dependent people in need of support and counselling.' Clients are referred to the program by both the courts and law enforcement agencies. This will be the fifth year funding this organization. It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution, authorizing the supplemental funding of the Alternatives Program, and allocating funding therefor, in the amount of $70,000, funding to be provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247, be approved. ,94- 799 AFFIDAVIT STATE OF FLORIDA: SS COUNTY OF DADE .
