RESOLUTION NO. . `r 774
A RESOLUTION CODESIGNATING NORTHWEST 4TH
AVENUE FROM NORTHWEST 5TH TO 9TH STREETS AND
FROM NORTHWEST 15TH TO 17TH STREETS, MIAMI,
FLORIDA, AS "ANN-MARIE ADKER AVENUE";
FURTHER, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO
TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE
HEREIN DESIGNATED AGENCIES.
WHEREAS, Ann -Marie Adker was born at the Jennings Property
(266 Northwest 9th Street) in Overtown on November 20, 1925; and
WHEREAS, because of her unrelenting efforts and community
activism on behalf of Overtown residents, Ann -Marie Adker was
recognized as the unofficial Mayor of Overtown; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 10761, adopted July 12, 1990, created
the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee and entrusted
said Committee with the responsibility of reviewing street
codesignation requests and making recommendations to the City
Commission in its determination as to whether or not a street
should be codesignated or a marker or plaza should be designated;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the City Commission's directive, the
Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee, at its meeting of
October 20, 1994, reviewed the Administration's proposal for a

street oodesignation for "Ann -Marie Adker Avenue" subject to the
conditions set forth by the Committee at said meeting; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Street Codesignation Committee
recommended the oodesignation of Northwest 4th Avenue from
Northwest 5th to 9th Streets and from Northwest 15th to 17th
Streets, Miami, Florida, as "Ann -Marie Adker Avenue";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings set forth in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby oodesignates
Northwest 4th Avenue from Northwest 5th to 9th Streets and from
Northwest 15th to 17th Streets, Miami, Florida as "Ann -Marie
Adker Avenue".
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to
instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to the Police Department, Fire-Resoue Department,
Department of General Services Administration -Solid Waste, Dade
County Public Works Department and the United States Postal
Service.

Seotion 4. This Resolution shall beoame effeotive
immediately upon it adoption.
