A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION N0. 94-539, ADOPTED
DULY 14, 1994, WHEREBY THE CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTED
THE BID OF SEALAND OONTRACIiORS , INC. FOR T 11E TOTAL BID
OF THE PROPOSAL, FOR "OLYMPIC POOL COMPLEX AT CHARLES
HAM" PARK - B-6211 " (CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PRCk7EG't
NO. 331349), THY: (1) INCREASING SAID BID AWARD,
IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $160,000, TO INCLUDE
ADDITIVE ALTERNATE ITEM NO. 1 FOR THE INSTALLATION OF
HEAT PUMPS AND WELLS; (2) REALLOCATn G FUNDS FOR SAID
PROTEiCI FROM FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED BY CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT ORDINANCE NO 11139, AS AMENDED, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $2,608,415 TO COVER CONTRACT COSTS AND
$415,585 TO COVER THE ESTIMATED EXPENSES FOR AN
ESTIMATED TOTAL PROJECT COST OF $3,100,000; AND (3)
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MMCUTE A CONTRACT, IN
A FIRM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATI+ORNEY, FOR SAID
PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 94-539, adopted duly 14, 1994, accepted the bid
of Seal a d Contraotors , Inc . , in the amount of $ 2 , 448 , 415 for the construction
Of the Olympic Pool Complex at Charles Hadley Park, Capital Project
No. 331349; and
WHEREAS, said Resolution did not include any of the three alternmte
items made a part of the bid proposal and other project -related costs; and
WHEREAS, in order to make the Olympic Pool Complex a year-round facility
for competitive swimming, it is necessary to include Additive Alternate No. 1
for the installation of the heat pumps and related supply pumps and well for
said pool, at an amount not to exceed $160,000; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 94-539 further identified project related
expenses in the amount of $272,357.00 to cover bid and construction
administration costs; and

WHMVAS, in order to cover the increase of $160,000 in the construction
oontraot and new estimated expenses in the amount of $491,585, it is neoessary
to reallocate the funds budgeted to Project No. 331349;

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to
this Resolution axe hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated
herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Resolution No. 94-539, adopted OUy 14, 1994, is
hereby amended in the following particsulars:V
Section 2. The June 21, 1994, bid of Sealaxd
Contractors, Tno., in the proposed amount of $2,448,ttB
$2.608.415, for the project entitled Olympic Pool Complex at
Charles Hadley Park, B--6211" for the total bid of the proposal,
based on lump sum and unit prices and Additive Alternate Item
No. 1, is hereby aocepted at the price stated therein.
Section 3. The total estimated project cost of
$2,720, 72 $3,100,000 is hereby allocated from the Fiscal Year
1993-94 Capital improvement ordinance No. 11139, as amended,
Project No. 331349. Said total project cost consists of tip'
$2,448,4ta $2.608,415 contract costg, and $272,357 $415,585
estimated expenses incurred by the City.
Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
enter into a contract, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney,
on behalf of the City of Miami with Sealand. Contractors, Inc., for
"Olympic Pool Complex at Charles Hadley Park, B-6211", J= total
bid of the proposal and Additive �,ti ve Alternate Item No. 1.

It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
Resolution ammending Resolution No. 94-539, by increasing in the amount of
$160,000, the construction contract with Sealand Contractors, Inc., for a total
construction award of $2,608,415; said increase will be used to include Additive
Alternate Item No. 1 consisting of the installation of the heat pumps and well for
the Charles Hadley Park Olympic Pool Complex; further amending the estimated
expenses related to the project to $491,585, for an estimated total project cost of
$3,100,000; with monies therefor reallocated from Project No. 331349, as
appropriated by the fiscal year 1993-94 Capital Improvement Ordinance No.
11139, as amended.
The Department of Development recommends the attached Resolution,
authorizing an increase in the construction contract with Sealand Contractors,
Inc., for the installation of the heat pumps and well for the Charles Hadley Park
Olympic Pool Complex. The installation of the heat pumps and related
equipment in the Olympic pool will allow year-round competitive swimming to
occur in this facility.
Resolution No. 94-539 adopted July 14, 1994 by the City Commission, accepied
the'bid of Sealand Contractors, Inc. for the construction of the Olympic Complex
at Hadley Park and estimated bidding and construction administration expenses
for the project. Said Resolution, however, did not include any of the three
alternate items that were part of the bid proposal and other project -related
expenses.
As depicted in the attached cost summary for the project, and in order to cover
the increase of $160,000 in the construction contract for the installation of
Additive Alternate Item No.1 and the new estimated expenses, it has become
necessary to reallocated the $3,100,00 budgeted funds in C.I.P. Project No.
331349.
