IN A TOTAL PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $4,604, FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF CONFERENCES, CONVENTIONS AND PUBLIC FACILITIES; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM ACCOUNT CODE NO. 921002-340; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS ACQUISITION. WHEREAS, the Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities needs to enclose the Watson Island Marina with a chain link fence in order to protect the general public; and WHEREAS, informal quotes were obtained from Murray Fence Company in the amount of $6,225, Fence Masters Corp. in the amount of $6,405 and Fence Connection Inc. in the amount of $4,604, and the City Manager has approved the emergency purchase and installation of a chain link fence for Watson Island Marina from Fence Connection, Inc., the lowest. responsible and responsive bidder; and CITY COP►-:iSSION KEET?I-'G OF OCT 2 7 1-14 Resolution Na 94- 756 b r b! WHEREAS, funds are available from Account Code No. 921002-340; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. By a 4/5ths affirmative vote of the members of the City Commission, after a duly advertised public hearing, the City Manager's written finding that a valid emergency need existed for the purchase and installation of a chain link fence for Watson Island Marina from Fence Connection, Inc., in the proposed amount of $4,604, is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Account Code No. 921002-340. Section 3. The requirements for competitive sealed bids is hereby waived for the Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities acquisition and installation of the above fence. Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a purchase order for this acquisition. Section 5. Funds are available from Account Code 921002-340. BACKGROUND The Department of Conference, Conventions and Public Facilities, Marinas Division has scheduled to close the Watson Island Marina in the near future. In order to protect the general public a fence must be placed restricting access to this area. Informal quotes were received from Murray Fence Company in the amount of $6,225.00, Fence Masters Corp. in the amount of $6,405.00, and Fence Connection, Inc. in the amount of $4,604.00. The contract was awarded to Fence Connection the lowest most responsive and responsible bidder. Funds for this purchase are available from Account Code No. 921002-340.
