ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission approve
the attached resolution authorizing the funding of the Boys and
Girls Club of Miami's "Pop Warner Football Program," in an amount
not to exceed $5,000 from the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust
Fund.
BACKGROUND:
The Boys and Girls Club of Miami has recently started a new
program called "Pop Warner Football Program" affecting
underprivileged children in West Coconut Grove at Armbrister
Park. This program is designed to provide the neighborhood
children access to activities which will eventually build
responsible citizens of tomorrow.
This is just one of the numerous programs the Boys and Girls Club
plans to provide. Their ultimate goal is to operate a complete
facility providing basketball, baseball, softball, soccer,
homework assistance and tutoring programs. However, these
programs are still in the planning stages.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
funding of the Boys and Girls Club of Miami's "Pop Warner
Football Program," in an amount not to exceed $5,000 be adopted.
The funding source is the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project
Code No. 690001, Index Code 029002-247.
