WHEREAS, the the City of Miami contemplated entering into an agreement
with the Sanitation Employees' Association regarding garbage and trash
collection services; and
WHEREAS, the nature of the proposed transaotion of privatization
presented numerous issues and problems requiring extensive legal analysis; and
WHEREAS, it became necessary to engage the professional services of
Weiss Serota and Helften, P.A., with respect to the proposed privatization
transaction between the City of Miami and the Sanitation Employees'
Association;
NOW, 7'RE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MfAMI,
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to
this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated
herein as if fully set forth in this Section.

Section 2. Payment, in the amount of $9,658.66, is hereby
authorized to the law firm of Weiss Serota and Helfman, P.A., for legal
services rendered in oonneotion with the proposed agreement between the City
of Miami and the Sanitation Employees' Association (SEA) regarding garbage and
trash collection services, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the
General Services Admixiistration/Solid Waste Department Budget, Account
No. 421301-722-422001.
Section 3.

Weiss Serota & Helfman, P.A.
The City Attorney's Office engaged the professional services
of the Law Firm of Weiss Serota & Helfman, P.A. for the purpose
of analyzing legal problems and labor issues with respect to the
City of Miami's proposed plan of privatization with the
Sanitation Employees' Association for garbage and trash
collection services.
The resolution attached is seeking approval for payment of
professional services rendered in connection therewith in the
amount of $9,658.66.
