I believe that $5,000 - $7,000 is needed to defray
some of the administrative expenses and requirements of
the Committee. Presently, I am personally doing things
like typing correspondence, doing the Committee's
mailings, and handling most of its telephone
communications, while I am also leading the Committee in
tree planting and other activities. I spent between 800-
1,000 hours on Committee business during the last year,
and I cannot continue to spend as much time tending to
day-to-day administrative functions. I also request that
since this Committee is an officially sanctioned

volunteer group of the City, that it be included as a
regular portion of the CityFs budget in the future with
an implicit commitment for funding on a more permanent
basis.
Finally, if same is not addressed in some earlier
Commission meeting, I would like to discuss the residency
requirement as it relates to this Committee. Certain of
our directors such as Kathy Gaubatz, Ruth Kassewitz,
Helen Eidson and others who have served this Committee
for many, many years, do not meet the residency
requirement for Miami committees and boards. However,
given that this is a non -political, volunteer group that
is pursuing projects to improve our City, I believe that
we should welcome and encourage anyone who is willing to
cor+xnit the time and effort to doing so without regard to
r:, idency.
Thank you very much for your assistance in this
matter. Plo'tllse confirm that this request will be an
aq,,; Ada item on a specified date so that ? can plan my
sch,,i..dule accordingly. Please also do no.. sesitate to
contact me should you have any questions cr comments
about the foregoing.
Very truly yours,
