RESOLUTION NO. 9 4_ 679
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING FOUR (4) MEMBERS TO
THE PRIVATE INDUSTRY COUNCIL (PIC) OF SOUTH
FLORIDA FOR TERMS OF OFFICES EXPIRING
JUNE 30, 1996.
WHEREAS, the Private Industry Council (PIC) of South Florida
is a duly constituted body under the provisions of the Job
Training Partnership Act (JTPA); and
WHEREAS, the Job Training Partnership Act stipulates that
local elected officials shall appoint the members of the Private
Industry Council; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Commission is presently called
upon to make appointments to four (4) seats in the PIC of South
Florida, whose terms expire on June 30, 1996; and
WHEREAS, the aforementioned seats are reserved for three (3)
duly nominated representatives of the private sector, and one (1)
duly nominated member from education;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference

thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The following individuals are hereby
appointed to the PIC of South Florida for terms of office
expiring June 30, 1996:

Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

RECOMMEHOATION s
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
Resolution which appoints four (4) members to the Private Industry Council
of South Fiorida.
BACKGROUND s
Legislation base been prepared for the City Commission to appoint four (4)
members to the Private Industry Council (PIC) of South Florida, whose terms
expire on June 310, 1996.
In order to comply with the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) of 1yb2,
the PIC was established in 1983. The law provides for a partnership
between the PIC and local elected officials in each service delivery area
to oversee the implementation of JTPA programs,
The JTPA stipulates that local elvotad officials shall appoint the members$
of the P1C, which is comprised of representatives from the following areas:
Economic: Developments Conmiunity Based organisations, Education, Labor, Job
Service, Vocational Rehabilitation and the private sector.
Currently, thirty-six (46) individuals constitute the PIC. Appointments by
elected officials are distributed as follows*
