RESOLUTION NO. 9 4- 659
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUPPORT OF THE KIDS OFF
STREETS PROGRAM, AMID ALLOCATING FUNDS THEFW OR, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $150,0000, FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT
TRUST FUND, SUCK COSTS HAVING SEEN CERTIFIED BY THE
CHIEF OF POLICE AS BEING IN CCMIANCE WITH FLORIDA
STATE STATUTE 932.7055.
VMMA.S, Florida State Statute 932.70550, as amended, authorizes the
expenditure of forfeiture proceeds for law enforcement purposes not considered
normal operating expenses; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami, supports those groups dedicated to assisting
the children of our colmmzity in becoming responsible and productive citizens;
WHEREAS, One Art Inc .'s, Kids Off Streets Program, targets high risk
students and involves then in productive cultural activities; and
WHEREM, the Program services Little River, Wpwood, Little Haiti,
Edison, and Overtown areas; and
WHEREAS, the funding authorized by this Resolution shall be earmarked
for activities sponsored by the Kids Off Streets Programs; and
WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has re mwinen ed adoption of this Resolution
and has determined that the expenditures proposed carply with Florida State
Statute 932.7055, as amended; and
W[UMAS, funds to cover the necessary expenses required for this program
are available in the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund;

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this
Resolution are hereby adopted by -reference thereto and incorporated herein as

if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Funding of the Kids Off Streets Program is hereby
authorized, with funds therefor, in an amount not to exceed $15,000, being
allocated frran the City of Miami Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No.
690001, Index Code 029002-247, such costs having been approved by the Chief of
Police.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective inu ed.iately upon its
adoption.

RECOMMENDATION:
It ie respectfully recommended that a Resolution funding the Kids
Off Streets Program, in the amount of $15,000, be approved.
BACKGROUND:
The Police Department supports the efforts of those groups
responsible for, and dedicated to, improving the quality of life
for the children in our community. The Kids Off Streets Program,
coordinated by OneArt, targets high risk students and involves
them in productive cultural activities during the critical after -
school hours. The Program operates in One Art, Inc. Is,, dance
studio and services Little Haiti, Wynwood, Edison, Little River,
and Overtown. This is third year funding for the program.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution funding the
Kids Off Streets Program, in the amount of $15,000, funding to be
provided from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001,
Index Code 029002-247, be approved.
