To date, we have had mvveral meetings and have found a
positive raponRe from late onforcomont with over halt' mending
{
representatives.
i The theme we will be using is the one from last year's Liz
j Claiborne March Rally Event, "Don't vle For Love". We will also
incorporate the current National theme of "There's No Excuse for
Domestic Violence".
As a finale of our event, we are planning a memorial for the
victims who have been killed as a result of domestic violence in
each of tho 27 municipralitieu.
Therefore, we are requesting to be placed can the City of Miami
Commission Meeting Agenda on September 8, 1994.
The purpose to to request that all reea and costs related to our
event at The Rayfr.ont Park Amphitheater on October 25, 1994 be
waived. We also request that this event be fully sponsored by
The City of Miami since this event will be occurring in your
city. The city of Miami Police Department is fully committed to
thin event and has been working diligently with us.
This event, though similiar to t_ha Pig Bowl where all police
agencies got together for a fundraiser, is the first time that
law enforcement has joined with Community agencies to advocate
for victims of domestic violence. We want you to be a pert of
this historical effort by being a sponsor for thle worthwhile
cause.
