City Manager ENCLOSURES
RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended. that the City Commission adopt the
attached Resolution accepting a grant in the amount of $100,000
from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection
for capital improvements to Peacock Park under the Florida
Recreation Development Assistance Program. The legislation would

documents for this purpose.
BACKGROUND
The 1,arks and Recreation Department had submitted application to
the Department of Environmental Protection seeking grant funds
under the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program for
improvements to Peacock Park, located at 2820 McFarlane Road.
The grant is intended to augment the existing Capital Improvement
Project (No. 331359) "Peacock Park Improvements" by providing
funds for the construction of a bay walk and related amenities.
This will be in addition to City -funded renovations already
underv.;ay which constitute the required local match for the grant,
as authorized by Ordinance No. 11139. The current work consists
of ball field relocation, new bleachers, lighting and irrigation
system upgrades, landscaping, picnic area and site furnishings.
We recently received notice from the state that our application
had been ranked high enough to merit the requested grant of
$100,000. Commission action at this time will permit the
Administration to proceed with this project.
