Dear Mr. Odio:
Light Up Miami is hereby requesting an appearance before the
City Commission on July 14, 1994, in order to request a
resolution recognizing and endorsing Light Up Miami's effort
to produce an illumination and lighting coordination for The
"Lights of the Americas" events related to the "Summit of
the Americas". And also a resolution encouraging Downtown
property owners to establish lighting on a permanent basis
after the events. The illumination plan is a voluntary
response by the private sector.
Specifically for the "Summit of the Americas" leading up to
December 9th through the 11th, Light Up Miami's plan is to
coordinate, develop and encourage a series of cultural,
historical, illumination activities and special events
called "Lights of the Americas".
Light Up Miami was created and registered as a not -for -
profit corporation by a group of outstanding members of our
community of diverse ethnic backgrounds and cultures. The
results of seven years of work are reflected by Miami's rank
as third best illuminated city in the world.
Sincerely,
Carlos Batista
