TO RECOGNIZE AND ENDORSE THEIR EFFORTS TO PRODUCE THE ILLUMINATION AND LIGHTING COORDINATION RELATED TO THE "SUMMIT OF THE AMERICAS" AND OTHER RELATED EVENTS TO BE HELD DECEMBER 9 - 11, 1994 IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The Miami City Commission hereby grants the request from representatives of Light Up Miami, Inc. and recognizes and endorses their efforts to produce the illumination and lighting coordination related to the "Summit of the Americas" and other related events to be held December 9 - 11, 1994 in downtown Miami. Odio City Manager 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, Florida 33133 Dear Mr. Odio: Light Up Miami is hereby requesting an appearance before the City Commission on July 14, 1994, in order to request a resolution recognizing and endorsing Light Up Miami's effort to produce an illumination and lighting coordination for The "Lights of the Americas" events related to the "Summit of the Americas". And also a resolution encouraging Downtown property owners to establish lighting on a permanent basis after the events. The illumination plan is a voluntary response by the private sector. Specifically for the "Summit of the Americas" leading up to December 9th through the 11th, Light Up Miami's plan is to coordinate, develop and encourage a series of cultural, historical, illumination activities and special events called "Lights of the Americas". Light Up Miami was created and registered as a not -for - profit corporation by a group of outstanding members of our community of diverse ethnic backgrounds and cultures. The results of seven years of work are reflected by Miami's rank as third best illuminated city in the world.
