A RESOLUTION APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS TO SERVE
AS MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WO,"M OF
THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR TERMS OF OFFICE AS
DESIGNATED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 93-766, adopted. December 16, 1993,
the City Commission established a committee known as the City's Boards and
Committees Review Committee and directed. said Committee to evaluate the
performance and effectiveness of each existing City board and committee and
make recommendations to the City Commission regarding the continuation,
abolishment or consolidation of said boat and committees and of any changes
w1itch should be made in the membership, function or any other characteristic
of said boards and, committees; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the City Commission's directive, the City's Boards
and Committees Review Committee held meetings and rendered a report making
findings and recommendations to the City Commission, at its meeting of
February 17, 1994, one of said recommendations being that the terms of all
current members of the Commission on the Status of Women shall be terminated
and that new members shall be appointed; and
WH REAS , pursuant to Ordinance No. 11130, adopted March 24, 1994, the
City Commission adopted the City's Boards and Committees Review Committee's
recommendations and terminated the terms of all current members of the
Commission on the Status of Women as of the effective date of said Ordinance,

with the proviso that said current members shall continue to serve until their
successors are appointed; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to appoint certain individuals as
members of the Commission on the Status of Women;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to
this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated
herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following individuals are hereby appointed as
designated herein as members of the Commission on the Status of Women of the
City of Miami, Florida, each member to serve a term of two (2) years
commencing this date or until the nominating commissioner leaves office,
whichever occurs first:

Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately

Commission on the Status of Women's membership shall consist of
25 members, which shall be appointed by the City Commission. The
City Commission may now proceed to reappoint or change current
membership of said Commission.

There are presently four (4) vacancies.
1. MEMBERSHIP:
Pursuant to Resolution 94-183 (adopted March 24, 1994), the
Commission's membership was amended as follows: of the five
(5) members to be appointed by the City Commission, one (1)
member shall be appointed to serve for a two (2) year period,

and may be reappointed for two (2) additional two (2) year
terms. No member shall serve more than three (3) consecutive
terms, and the limitation is to be interpreted on a
prospective basis.
2. ATTENDANCE POLICY:
Any member having two (2) consecutive absences to a regular
meetings in one (1) calendar year is to be immediately
contacted by the Commission's Coordinator, in writing, to
inform said member that a third (3rd) consecutive absence
shall be certified to the City Commission requesting said
member's removal from the Commission. Thereupon, the member
shall be deemed removed, and the City Commission shall fill
the vacancy by appointment. If a member has a total of three
(3) absences to regular meetings in one (1) calendar year, the
Commission Coordinator shall immediately contact the member in
writing to inform him/her that the fourth (4th) absence shall
be certified to the City Commission requesting his/her removal
from the Commission on the Status of Women. Upon such
certification, the member shall be deemed removed and the City
Commission shall fill the vacancy by appointment.
3. QUORUM:
A quorum shall consist of fifty percent (50%) plus one (1) of
the present total number of Commission members.
