HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-94-0432J-94-501 6/30/94 RESOLUTION NO. 9 4- 432 A RESOLUTION CLASSIFYING TEN (10) SURPLUS GARBAGE PACKING TRUCKS, THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE'S USED FIRE SUITS, AND THIRTY (30) ITEMS OF SURPLUS MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT AS CATEGORY "A" STOCK; FURTHER DONATING THE SAME TO RECIPIENTS AS SPECIFIED HEREIN, AND EFFECTIVE BETWEEN JUNE 30, 1994 AND JULY 1, 1995, UPON THE EXECUTION OF THE APPROPRIATE RELEASE DOCUMENTS; TRANSPORTATION, PACKING AND SHIPPING COSTS TO BE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE RECIPIENTS. WHEREAS, the Sister City of Managua, in the Republic of Nicaragua, has need for assistance in its municipal sanitation efforts and fire fighting service; and WHEREAS, the Sanitation Department and Fire Department of the Sister City of Managua are in need of ten (10) garbage packing trucks to be used in its municipal sanitation efforts, as well as fire suits to be used in fire fighting efforts; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami has ten (10) surplus garbage packing trucks and a number of used fire suits that could be used for such purposes; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Commission that between June 30, 1994 and July 1, 1995 ten (10) surplus garbage packing trucks and the the Department of Fire -Rescue's used fire MEETUNG OF jiesaluticn I'.io. .94- 432 1 suits be delcared Category "A" surplus stock and donated to the Sister City of Managua, in the Republic of Nicaragua; and WHEREAS, it is further the intention of the City Commission that between June 30, 1994 and July 1, 1995, the next thirty (30) items of surplus materials and equipment declared Category "A" surplus stock be donated as herein specified; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted, by reference f thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. I j Section 2. Ten (10) surplus garbage packing trucks, the Department of Fire -Rescue's used fire suits, and thirty (30) items of surplus materials and equipment are hereby classified as Category "A" surplus stock, should such items become available as surplus city stock. Section 3. Within the period of June 30, 1994 and July 1, 1995, said Category "A" surplus stock, if available, is hereby donated, upon the execution of the appropriate release documents, as follows: (1) ten (10) surplus garbage packing trucks and the Department of Fire -Rescue's used fire suits to the Sister City of Managua, in the Republic of Nicaragua, to be used by the City of Managua in its municipal sanitation and fire fighting efforts, (2) ten (10) items of surplus materials and equipment to Haiti contingent upon normalization of relations with a recognized governmental entity of said country, (3) ten i - 2 - i 94- 432 (10) items of surplus materials and equipment to Santo Domingo, and (4) ten (10) items of surplus materials and equipment to recipient(s) to be determined at a later date. Section 4. All transportation, packing and shipping costs will be the sole responsibility of the recipients. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. BACKGROUND: The Sister City of Managua, in the Republic of Nicaragua, has need for assistance in its municipal sanitation efforts and has requested ten (10) surplus garbage packing trucks to be used for such a purpose. The attached resolution formalizes the donation of the ten (10) surplus garbage packing trucks.
