HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-94-0397J-94-437 5/27/94 RESOLUTION NO. 9 4- 397 A RESOLUTION BY A 4/5THS AFFIRMATIVE VOTE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION AFTER A DULY ADVERTISED PUBLIC HEARING, RATIFYING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING THAT AN EMERGENCY NEED EXISTED, WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF COMPETITIVE SEALED BIDS FOR THE REPAIR OF THE AERIAL 24 RESPONSE VEHICLE FROM LASSO'S PAINT & BODY REPAIR FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE AT A TOTAL PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $5,759.77; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF FIRE -RESCUE ACCOUNT CODE NO. 280701-670; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS ACQUISITION. WHEREAS, the Department of Fire -Rescue needed to have the Aerial 24 repaired due to extensive damages to the front of vehicle; and WHEREAS, this vehicle has been rendered inoperable and is no longer capable of responding to emergency incidents; and WHEREAS, informal quotes were solicited from three (3) companies and Casso's Paint & Body, Inc. was the lowest responsible and responsive vendor; and WHEREAS, funding for said service is available from the Fire -Rescue General Account Code No. 280701-670; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: CITY COMMISSION MEET?t!C OF J U N n 9 {q94 Resolution No. 4- 397 Section I. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. By a 4/5ths affirmative vote of the members of the City Commission, after a duly advertised public hearing, the City Manager's written finding that a valid emergency need existed for the emergency repair of the Aerial 24 Response Vehicle from Casso's Paint & Body Repair, Inc., for a total proposed amount of $5,759.77, for the Department of Fire -Rescue, is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved, with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Department of Fire -Rescue Account Code No. 280701-670. Section 3. The requirements for competitive sealed bids is hereby waived for the Department of Fire-Resoue's acquisition of the above service. Section 4. BACKGROUND This vehicle was involved in an vehicular accident and sustained severe damage to the cab. As a result of this damage, Aerial 24 has been rendered inoperable and is no longer capable of responding to emergency responses. Because of the importance of this type of apparatus to Fire Department's operation, it is hereby requested that approval be granted for the expenditure of $5,859.77 to expedite emergency repairs on Aerial 24 from Cassos Paint & Body Inc. Quotes have been solicited from three (3) repair facilities; Cassos Paint & Body Inc. ($5,759.77), E.S.E.F. Inc. ($9,102.00), and Imperio Auto Repair ($11,500.00). This vehicle was involved in an accident and sustained severe damage to the front of the vehicle. As a result of this damage, Aerial 24 has-been rendered inoperable and is no longer capable of responding to emergency incidents.
