Resolution Authorizing the
Funding of the 1994 Florida
Police Chiefs Training
Conference
It is respectfully recommended that a Resolution authorizing the
funding of the 1994 Florida Police Chiefs Training Conference, in
the amount of $15,000, be approved.
BACKGROUND:
The Police Department, in conjunction with the Dade Chiefs
Association, is hosting this year's Florida Police Chiefs
Training Conference, to be held the week of June 18, 1994. This
conference attracts approximately 450 participants, and provides
a forum for the leaders of Florida's Law Enforcement Community to
exchange ideas. and methods for combatting crime and effecting
change. Training seminars in first line, mid level and executive
leadership skills,, firearms, survival, investigative techniques,
planning skills, and other topics, will be provided.
In addition to the valuable training offered to the participants
of the conference, this event provides the City of Miami and
surrounding areas a great deal of positive exposure. Local
hotels and attractions have an opportunity to attract tourists
from throughout the state, and local vendors, interested in
servicing the law enforcement community, have a forum for
exhibiting their wares for Chiefs of Police from all of Florida.
It is, therefore, recommended that the Resolution authorizing the
funding of the 1994 Florida Police Chiefs Training Conference, in
the amount of $15,000, funding to be provided from the Taw
Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code 290902-
996, be approved.
