Dear Mr. Odio:
City Manager
Dr.
On behalf of the STAND UPI Miami Chapter of the Buoniconti Fund to Care
Paralysis we would like to request an appearance before the City of Miami Commission at
the April 14, 1994 meeting,
STAND UPI Miami will be organizing the annual "Walk -A. -Thou" previously
organized by The Women's Guild of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. We would like
to request that the Commission authorize a third event for the month of October 1994 in
Coconut Grove. We propose to have this "Walk -A -Thou" benefitting The Miami Project to
Cure Paralysis in conjunction with C:ocoWalk, The event has, tentatively, been scheduled
for October 29, 1994 pending your approval,
We have planned a circular route as follows:
Begin at Q)coWalk and proceed down McFarland Road. At the end of
McFarland Road turn left down Bayshoro Drive to Tigertail Court. From
Bayshorc .Drive we would turn left onto Tigertail Court and then left again on
Tigertail Avenue. From Tigertail Avenue proceed to Oak Avenue going
straight to Virginal Street and turn left to return to CocoWalk. This is about i
three (3) miles and would require half of Tigertail to be closed for roughly
thrcc (3) hours,
STAND UPI Miami would also like to request of the Commission a waiver of fees
required by city code as they relate to this event.
STAND UPI taps into a national stream of energetic idealism and is comprised of
young professionals dedicated to raising; awareness and funds td support The Miami Project,
Under the na ire STAND UPI, the national committee hosts fundraisers and events to
gencratc awareness of tho harsh realities of spinal cord injury as well as the funds needed
to fiord its cure.
