' • :1' i . 1�1 I: �I' •1 1 �i�01 i' • •• •:1' �I:I' • !• I 1 �i • 1 • � � •' U' •' 01'1 • L'! �11 1:1' �11 WHEREAS, on May 13, 1993, pursuant to Resolution No. 93-285, the Tax - Exempt Property Steering Committee of the City of Miami, Florida, was established for the purpose of managing changes in the City of Miami's tax base by monitoring tax-exempt institutional expansion and seeking voluntary Payment -In -Lieu of Taxes ("P=") payments from those institutions that wish to expand or significantly alter their land holdings in the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, said Resolution provided for the appointment of five community representative members whose residence or place of business are in the City of Miami and which are appointed by the City Commission; and, WHEREAS, appointments for the two members nominated by Mayor Suarez and Commissioner Alonso were terminated by virtue of the election of Mayor Clark and Commissioner Gort in November, 1993; and WHEREAS, said terminations necessitate nominations by Mayor Clark and Commissioner Gort for appointments to the Tax -Exempt Property Steering Committee; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, 04 o) 1.4 11 Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. The following individuals are hereby appointed to serve as members on the Tax -Exempt Property Steering Committee for three year terms, expiring July 7, 1997: Robert Fairless Josefina Sanchez-Pando Mayor Stephen P. It is respectfully recommended that pursuant to Resolution No. 93-285, Mayor Clark and Commissioner Gort nominated members to be appointed to serve on the committee thereby established. BACKGROUND: On May 13, 1993, Resolution No. 93-285 was passed establishing Tax -Exempt Property Steering Committee. Its establishment is for the purpose of managing changes in the City of Miami's tax base by monitoring tax-exempt institutional expansion and seeking voluntary Payment -In -Lieu of Taxes ("PILOT") payments from these institutions that wish to expand or significantly alter their land holdings in the City of Miami. In November of 1993, as a result of Municipal elections, committee members positions nominated by Ex -Mayor Suarez and Ex -Commissioner Alonso had expired. The newly elected Mayor Clark and Commissioner Gort are hereby, as required by guidelines set forth in Resolution No. 93-285, due to nominate two new committee members. 94- 209.5'
