HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-94-0201J-94-201 3/14/94 94- 201 AL JV;W;0 H WV rr ' ! al' • • H• r :!' • •` •t •• 1 r r •: 91r • r alr i' 1' • •• • '•'d N • I r ' Ir ••• -,r r •t r 1' • r r u • IWZIW.14111 WfIE MS , the City of Miami ("City"), pursuant to Ordinance No. 11038, adopted February 25, 1993, established a new special revenue fund entitled "Transportation Planning and Coordination", appropriated funds for the operation of same in the amount of $155 , 000, consisting of a $120 , 000 grant from the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Miami Urbanized Area ("MPO"), matched by $35,000 from private developer contributions, of which $5,000 was an overmatch, and authorized the City Manager to accept the grant award and execute the necessary agreement with the MPO; and WHER AS, pursuant to Resolution No. 93-716, adopted November 23, 1993, the City applied for a Fiscal Year ("FY") 1994 grant of $90,000, and was subsequently awaxded a grant of $76,363; and WHEREAS, the MPO has requested applications for FY 1995 local government transportation planning funds, which must be requested by the City no later than April 1, 1994; and. CITY CONLIVIISSI0K 14EETING OF MAR 2 4 1994 Re"Utbm No, 94- 201 WHEREAS, the subject grant is to be used in accordance with the general scope of services filed with the MPO for transportation planning and coordination, and certain additions and modifications to said scope of services will be made to accommodate this additional funding and time j schedules; and WHEREAS, acceptance of the subject grant will allow the City to continue its enhanced, transportation planning , g and coordination activities, which have been curtailed in recent years due to budget constraints; amd WHEREAS, the City is appreciative of the action of the MPO in making these grants available to the City, and intends to avail itself of the MPO's offer; Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for and to accept on behalf of the City a Fiscal Year 1995 grant in an amount of up to $120,000 from the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Miami. Urbanized Area, said grant to be utilized for the purposes of transportation planning and coordination in the City of Miami. Section 3. Approval is hereby given to match the aforementioned MPO grant by a City contribution in an amount of up to $30,000 to be allocated i from the City's General Fund. Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized-" to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said grant application and acceptance. -2- 94- 201 Section 5. BACKGROUND The City was the recipient of an FY 1993 grant from the MPO in the amount of $120,000 as authorized by MPO Resolution 20-92 and City Ordinance 11038. A second grant for nine months of FY 1994 of $76,363 was awarded by the MPO and accepted by the City. The MPO is now allocating the FY 1995 local government grant funds, which must be applied for no later than April 1, 1994. Matching funds of up to $30,000 will be provided from the General Fund. The grant is to be used in accordance with the general scope of services filed with the MPO for transportation planning and coordination, a copy of which is attached. Certain additions and modifications to this scope of services will be made to accommodate this additional funding and time schedules. Acceptance of the grant will allow the City to continue its enhanced transportation planning and coordination activities, which have been curtailed in recent years due to budget constraints. 36 -!
