1 RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE
TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH THE LITTLE HAITI
HOUSING ASSOCIATION ("GRANTEE"), A
NOT -FOR -PROFIT CORPORATION, TO PROVIDE A
GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $358,885 FOR GRANTEE
TO ACQUIRE, RENOVATE AND DEVELOP LOW TO
MODERATE INCOME SCATTERED SITE HOUSING IN THE
LITTLE HAITI NEIGHBORHOOD; SAID GRANT SUBJECT

TO GRANTEE PROVIDING THE CITY COMMISSION WITH
A BINDING DOCUMENT STATING THAT THE SELLING
PRICE OF THE REHABILITATED HOUSES WILL NOT
EXCEED $50,000 EACH; ALLOCATING FUNDS
THEREFOR FROM UNEXPENDED PREVIOUSLY ALLOCATED
TENTH (10TH) YEAR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK
GRANT FUNDS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 91-740, adopted
October 3, 1991, the City Commission directed the City Manager to
reallocate approximately $500,367 in unexpended Tenth (10th) Year
Community Development Program funding for the purpose of
providing funds to undertake the acquisition of slum and blighted
properties situated at Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 5th
Avenue between Northeast 62nd and 63rd Streets in Northeast
Miami; and
WHEREAS, an amount of $66,482 has been expended in appraisal
fees and acquisition of properties from the above funds, leaving
a balance of $433,885; and

WHEREAS, on February 17, 1994,'the City Commission approved
the reallocation of $75,OOO from the above remaining balance for
the beautification of the Biscayne West Neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, the Northeast Task Force has requested that the
remaining balance, in the amount of $358,885, be reallocated to
the Little Haiti Housing Association to purchase properties for
rehabilitation located between Northeast 61st Street and
Northeast 78th Street and Northeast 4th Court and Biscayne
Boulevard, Miami, Florida (Biscayne West Neighborhood);

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized �`� to
enter into an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, with the Little Haiti Housing Association (Grantee), a
not -for -profit corporation, to provide a grant in the amount of
$358,885 for Grantee to acquire, renovate and develop low to
moderate income scattered site housing in the Little Haiti
neighborhood, said grant subject to Grantee providing the City
Commission with a binding document stating that the selling price
of the rehabilitated houses will not exceed $50,000 each, with
The herein authorization is further subject to compliance
with all requirements that may be imposed by the City
Attorney including but not limited to those prescribed by
applicable City Charter and Code provisions.
