HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-94-0133Sia yl t ♦. k t r J-94-186 7. 2/24/94 9 - 33 RESOLUTION No. A RESOLUTION GRANTING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED t $8 0.0,0; TO THE CONGRESSIONAL BLACK CAUCUS FOUNDATION, INC., A NOT -FOR -PROFIT INSTITUTE, FOR THE FLORIDA PUBLIC POLICY CONFERENCE "EMPOWERMENT" TO BE HELD MARCH 18-19, 1994 AT THE MIAMI AIRPORT HILTON AND TOWERS; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, established in 1976, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation is a non -partisan, non-profit, public policy research and educational institute which works to broaden and elevate the influence of African Americans in the political and public policy arenas; and i WHEREAS, The Florida Public Policy Conference is an expansion of the Foundation's Annual Legislative Weekend, which has provided a national forum for the exploration of legislative and public policy issues for over 23 years; and WHEREAS, this conference is the second in a series of regional forums which will bring together a coalition of Florida's business, religious, government and community leaders; r i Y i \ 1 t . y1 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY r OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: d Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. A Grant, in an amount not to exceed $8000, to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc., a not -for -profit institute, for the Florida Public Policy 'Conference "Empowerment" to be held March 18-19, 1994 at the Miami Airport Hilton and Towers is hereby approved, with funds i t.`. therefor hereby allocated from Special Programs and. Accounts. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorizedl' to execute the necessary agreement, in a form acceptable to the City 3 Attorney, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective- i immediately upon its adoption. I The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. 94- 133 -2-
