A RESOLUTION RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE ACTION OF THE CITY MANAGER IN ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF ONE THOUSAND (1,000) RED MANGROVES, MATERIALS AND LABOR ' FROM MAST ACADEMY ECOLOGY CLUB FOR THE RESTORATION OF .028 ACRES OF THE 4.8 ACRES AS MANDATED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION MANAGEMENT (D.E.R.M.) AND THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION (D.E.P.) AT THE VIRGINIA KEY WETLANDS LOCATED AT THE VIRGINIA KEY YARD WASTE FACILITY SITE. WHEREAS, the City Manager determined that the donation of these Red Mangroves would be a tremendous savings to the City of Miami for, the replacement of those trees destroyed during the hurricane debris burning phase which got out of control in October, 1992; and WHEREAS, Coastal Teoh, a firm the City of Miami has contracted with to do the restoration of Mangroves at the Virginia; Key wetlands, was initially contacted by Mast Academy Ecology Club to donate one thousand (1,000) Red Mangroves, materials and labor to plant .028 acres of the 4.8 acres as mandated by the Department of Environmental Regulation Management ' (D.E.R.M.) and the Department of Environmental Protection d ` (D.E.P.); and $��.b.v t F i 11 l f 1 t ' WHEREAS, these Red Mangroves were stored at Mast Academy and immediate planting was necessary to prevent them from laying; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Assistant City Manager for the Department of General Services Administration and Solid Waste recommended the acceptance of this donation of one thousand (1,000) Red Mangroves; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference theretoandincorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The action of the City Manager in accepting the donation of one thousand (1,000) Red Mangroves, materials and labor from Mast Academy Ecology Club for the restoration of .025 acres of the 4.5 acres as mandated by the Department of Environmental Regulation Management (D.E.R.M.) and the Department of Environmental Protection (D.E.P.) at the Virginia Key wetlands located at the Virginia Key yard waste facility site is hereby ratified, approved and confirmed.
