RESOLUTION NO. 9 4 - 4 4
A RESOLUTION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXTEND THE EXISTING
CONTRACT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY
ATTORNEY, WITH MET CONSTRUCTION, INC. TO
COMPLETE EMERGENCY WORK REQUIRED BY THE CITY
OF MIAMI FIRE MARSHAL, MORE PARTICULARLY SET
FORTH IN EXHIBIT 'A', ATTACHED HERETO AND
INCORPORATED HEREIN, AT THE AT&T
AMPHITHEATER, LOCATED IN THE MILDRED AND
CLAUDE PEPPER BAYFRONT PARK; FURTHER
ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR, IN AN AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED $50,000, FROM THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Bayfront Park Management Trust is constantly
exploring new sources of earned income; and
WHEREAS, a rental of the AT&T Amphitheater at Bayfront Park
is an essential income source; and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Department of Fire -Rescue has
mandated changes to the amphitheater's design to ensure the
safety of the audience; and

WHEREAS, MET Construction, Inc. is currently working on -site
and capable of making these changes required by the Fire
Marshall;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this

Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized`/ to
extend the existing contract, in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, with MET Construction, Inc., to complete emergency work.
required by the City of Miami Fire Marshal, more particularly set
forth in Exhibit 'A', attached hereto and incorporated herein, at
the AT&T Amphitheater, located in the Mildred and Claude Pepper
Bayfront Park, with funds therefor, in an amount not to exceed
$50,000, hereby allocated from the Capital Improvement Projects
Program.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

The herein authorization is further subject to compliance
with all requirements that may be imposed by the City
Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by
applicable City Charter and Code provisions.

SPECIFICATIONS
Railings above seating, AT&T Amphitheater @ Bayfront Park
1) Description of work
A. On highest curb above fixed seating construct a continuous
pipe and cable railing to match adjacent similar railing. Required
are 3451-0" of railing in five (5) continuous sections. Do not
install before consulting architect for exact location.
B. Installation: Use existing 30'-0 sections owned and stored
by the City of Miami and stored at Bayside Marketplace. Railings
and cable are reusable, but all new stainless steel turnbuckles
will be required. Cut and reweld so that 5'-0 or 10'-0 segments
will follow curve, changing directions (bending) only at posts.
C. After layout is verified by architect drill holes 1/4"
larger than pipe diameter. Grout with nonshrinking grout or
approved equal.
D. Cleaning and painting: Completely remove rust from pipes.
Thoroughly clean weld areas. Paint exposed metal with zinc rich
primer (FS TT-P-31). Paint entire railing in amphitheater, newly
installed and existing, but not cables with light grey enamel to
match existing.
2) Coordination of work
A. Coordinate work and freshness of work to avoid various
scheduled events in the amphitheater.
SPECIFICATIONS
Concrete Slabs at Amphitheater
1) General
Concrete for slab on grade construction and for miscellaneous
concrete features shall test at 3000 psi at 28 days.
2) Materials
Concrete shall be a minimum 6-bag mix, and no additives shall
be used except with written permission of the architect. In other
respects, the requirements of City form materials and steel
reinforcement as indicated in the plans for a completed job.
3) Curing
Curing shall be by means of a spray -applied curing compound.
4) Hot Weather Placing and Curing Procedures

If atmospheric conditions are such as to adversely affect the
placing and curing of concrete, the Contractor shall take steps to
overcome these unfavorable conditions. These may include limiting
the maximum temperature of the concrete at the time of pour,
shading the area where concrete will be poured, and wet -curing the
concrete for the first 24 hours by covering it with burlap.
5) Finishes
Trowel Finish: Follow floating by steel troweling after the
moisture film sheen disappears from the floated surface and when
the concrete has hardened enough to prevent fine material and water
from being worked to the surface. When wet spots occur, delay
finishing operations until waster has been absorbed, evaporated, or
mopped up. Do not spread dry cement to take up excessive water.
6) Cold Joints
Three slabs show cold joints which are necessary as a pattern
for use as well as structurally. Adjacent slabs at cold joints
must be poured alternately.
SPECIFICATIONS
Grease Trap and Installation
1) Quality Assurance: Comply with south Florida Building Code
2) Summary of Work: Install and supply 750 gallon grease trap as
shown on attached drawings, including vandal -proof cap on supply
inlet, 6" inlet system, 411 outlet system rising to 1211 below grade,
proceeding south approximately 12'-0 to a specific point (consult
architect) for penetration of underground roof, proceeding downward
against wall 161-0 to a 45 degree elbow and 241-0 at 1/16" slope
per foot to existing 4" san. connection at inv. +8.5 FT. patch
penetration of roof slab and openings in floor to match existing
finish in pattern. Consult architect on exact locations.
3) Products: Hubless cast iron soil pipe, CISPI std. 301, service
weight, cast iron soil pipe and fittings, with neoprene gaskets
conforming to CISPI Standard 310. Clamps and compression gaskets:
ASTM C564. Clean -out plugs, cast bronze or brass, threads
complying with AN51 B2.1, countersunk head, flush with ground.
4) Execution: Verify existing grades, inverts, utilities and
obstacles prior to installation. Coordinate work schedule with
park management before installation commences. Do not enclose,
cover, or put into operation until system has been inspected and
approved by inspecting authority. Place plugs in ends of
uncompleted piping at end of day or whenever work stops.
