ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached Resolution funding the Crime Prevention Program in the
amount of $100,000.
RA ;• ,
The Miami Police Department encourages the citizens of the
community to participate in the prevention and detection of
crime. For this reason the Police Department has regularly
sponsored and supported such groups as the Citizens Crime Watch,
Youth Crime Watch, the Metro -Dade Criminal Justice Council and
other organizations devoted to the prevention of crime.
In an effort to efficiently combat crime the Police Department
must regularly update its equipment and programs with innovative
items and ideas. The Crime Prevention Program has been utilized
to purchase state of the art equipment and offer financial
support to crime prevention programs not regularly budgeted by
the Police Department. All items over $4500 will still require
commission approval prior to purchase.
It is, therefore, requested that the Resolution funding the Crime
Prevention Program, and allocating funds therefor in the amount
of $100,000, be approved. Funding will be from the Law
Enforcement Trust Fund, Project No. 690001, Index Code
290904-996.
