DESIGNATED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, the Republic of China on Taiwan was a founding member of the
United Nations and its re-entry into the United. Nations is essential both for
the peace and security of the world.; and
WHEREAS, the United States of America and the Republic of Cbi na have
been friends and allies for many decades; and.

WHEREAS, the City of Miami enjoys a sister city relationship with the
City of Kaoshiung, Republic of =na; and
WlW.EAS, the Republic of Celina on Taiwan is now the 14th largest trading
nation in the world, and ranks seventh in outbound investment, 20th in gross
national product, and 25th in per capita income; and.
WmwAS, the Republic of China, on Taiwan bas consistently demonstrated

its support for democracy and peace in the world., its concern for regional and
international development, and its interest in overseas relief programs; and
WHEREAS, the people of the Republic of China on Taiwan deserve
appropriate recognition and oredit as dynamio participants in the
international comrmmity;

Resolution No.
94- 21
Section 1. The reoitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this
Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as
if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The United Nations and aa.l its affiliated organizations are
hereby urged to recognize and accord full membership status in the United
Nations and ail.1 its affiliated organizations to the Republic of China on
Taiwan.
Section 3. The United States government is hereby urged to give its
active support in order to expedite the full participation of the Republic of
China on Taiwan in the international community in general and the United
Nations in particular.
Section 4. The City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Secretary General of the United Nations,
President William J. Clinton, Vioe-President Albert Gore, Jr., Thomas S.
Foley, Speaker of the House, George J. Mitchell, Senate Majority Leader and
Lee Teng-Hui, President of the Republic of China on Taiwan.
Section 5. This Resolution sball become effective inmed:iately upon its
adoption.
