ENCLOSURES:
It is respectfully recommended that an Ordinance amending
Ordinance No. 1.1059, which established initial resources and
initial appropriations for a Special Revenue Fund entitled: "Drug
Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)," and increasing said
appropriations by $54,2210 as the result of a successful grant

The Miami Police Department is continuing its efforts in
educating the youth of our schools in the dangers of alcohol and
substance abuse. Toward this and the Drug Abuse Resistance
Education (D.A.R.E.) program was established. This program
targets elementary school students about to move on to middle
school. Metropolitan Dade County has committed an additional
$54,221 toward the payment of overtime for police officers
certified in teaching the D.A.R.E. program, training costs, and
curriculum support materials. There are no matching funds
