The City Manager is hereby authorizecl�' to aooept the funding as set forth in the Preamble to this Ordinance and to enter into the necessary oontract(s) and/or agreement(s), in a form aooeptabl.e to the City Attorney, for the aoc:eptanoe of the aforesaid monies for the compensation, of personnel and other related costs. Section 3. All or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed - Section 4. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 5. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure on the grounds of urgent public need for the preservation of peace, health, safety, and property of the City of Miami, and upon the further Words and/or figures stricken through shall be deleted. REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that an Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 1.1059, which established initial resources and initial appropriations for a Special Revenue Fund entitled: "Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.)," and increasing said appropriations by $54,2210 as the result of a successful grant application from Metropolitan Dade County, be adopted. 1:1:[643rj7� .. The Miami Police Department is continuing its efforts in educating the youth of our schools in the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse. Toward this and the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program was established. This program targets elementary school students about to move on to middle school. Metropolitan Dade County has committed an additional $54,221 toward the payment of overtime for police officers certified in teaching the D.A.R.E. program, training costs, and curriculum support materials. There are no matching funds required from the City of Miami.
