Dear Mr. Odio:
I am absolutely concerned about the four attachments, as to what has been done, and will
be done,
It is Important to note that before South Florida can feel comfortable enough to Invite
family and friends to our area, they must feet safe, and be shown that efforts are being
made to secure the safety of all residents, as well as any visitors.
City and County officials will be asked to briefly share their plans and commitments for
improving the area's image, and to reassure residents and non-residents that safety for all
is a goal that the City and County will strive to bring Into reality.
I am a life long resident of Dade County, and feel that my hometown is as safe as any oth-
er major Metropolitan area. Crime is a factor that all civilization must endure, but through
the organized efforts of our public officials, law enforcement organizations, court system,
and concerned residents, management of this situation will become a reality.
Please provide me periodically, updated enforcement actions taken by the Government
Department, to evaluate problems In Overtown.
Thank you and have a nice day.
Sincerely,
Adrean Lans

court representatives, and counseling with ex -offenders.
5. Include provision of educational services to include tutoring and field trips to less
motivated school children.
6. Assist in employment search and referral to training programs.
7. Educate our youth on the dangers of drugs, communicable diseases, and the
prevention of rape and suicide.

Officers and Members of the Board and Mr. Lana:
I have read with great concern the letter of June 10, 1994 of Mr.
Adrean Lana, whose concerns for the Old Dorsey Library and the
Overtown community appear to be both conscientious and viable
Ideas and ideals for a better Overtown neighborhood.
Approximately three years ago, I supported the Overtown Advisory
Board in fostering this building as a Historic Site, an that the
building should be rehabilitated and restored for purposes of
value in the community. Might I add, this Board, at this time
has done absolutely nothing.
I should hope that this Board and Mr. Lana can work together in
accomplishing more than the City of Miami, in that it allowed it
at one time to become a Crack House, and make this site useful
and beneficial in a neighborhood that has so many vital needs.
Now, it sits and rots and deteriorates daily.
Mr. Lana has my support in his efforts to serve the children of
this community and my old neighborhood, and it is my personal
hope that this community Board will give him their support.' He
has my support as the daughter and legal heir of Dana Albert
Dorsey, my father. I think his gift to the citizens of Miami
deserves better from both the community Board and the City of
Miami.
It has r ally taken this Board too long to do NOTHING. Assist
this yog man in helping all of our children.
ncer/ely,
(Mrs.) Dana Dorsey Wapma
