CD CD a 0 0 0 CD 0 THE PLAN NAME OF THE ORGANIZATION TO PRESENT THE PLAN: NORTHEAST COALITION FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (NCED) Business name for the Project: MIAMI'S INTERNATIONAL VILLAGE AND MARKETPLACE 1. OUTLINE OF THE IDEA: Miami is an international city! Let us take this fact and turn it into an asset not a problem. We already have many ethnic backgrounds represented in this area. Let us use this rich resource and match it with an idea that will bring about more improvements than we would have ever dreamt could be possible. The potential along Biscayne Boulevard and adjoining areas is wide open for development! There are vacant properties all along the Blvd. corridor; vacant land for sale; buildings in and throughout the area behind the Blvd. corridor vacant on both sides, especially from 87th to 79th. We need a comprehensive plan with an overlay from 36th St. to 87th St. on the east and west side of the Boulevard. This overlay would include the area west to the railroad tracks as a commercial/mixed use area. There would be 10 or 20 ethnic "blocks" along the Blvd. starting at 78th St. on the North end to 55th Terr.on the South. Biscayne Boulevard would be the "front" or business "window" for these ethnic communities which would extent west to the F.E.C. Railroad. At this location, where there are now warehouses, would become the "INTERNATIONAL VILLAGEMARKETPLACE". This "Marketplace" would start at 79th Street and end at Gist Street. 2. AMAIN POINTS TO CONSIDER: * We can, if we join forces, come up with a marketing plan that will "tie together" the ideas we all would like to see become realities. * We can "drift along" with the decaying tide, or we can take charge and build on the good that is all around us! Large portions of this area are in an economically depressed condition allowing for development at rice that can't be matched anywhere else in the city. * We are in the center of a worldwide market of 700 million people. (see enclosure) 4' In a state with a $31 billion tourist industry. 50,000 autos travel North and South on the Blvd. every day. y` We have local customers/business potential already built in - * Homeowners and residents that live in the area, with a middle to upper class income driving 10 or 15 miles to another area to spelid their money. We have employers and employees already in place that live in the Northeast area. * The City, County and State would realize a tremendous tax base increase The value of property would increase far above its present value * This "INTERNATIONAL VILLAGE" idea can spread all the way to 1-95 and produce thousands of jobs. * This partial list, out of a list of over (50) make up part of the ethnic groups represented throughout Miami, as well as in this immediate area: Cuban Japanese Vietnamese Haitian Chinese Jamaican African German Indian Polynesian Swiss Arabs Korean Submitted into the public record in coranec?Lion vuith item CIT 9 4 - 40.1 tl.
