A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ENGAGEMENT
OF THE LAW FIRM OF WEISS, SEROTA &
HELFMAN, P.A. TO SERVE AS COUNSEL TO THE
CITY OF MIAMI IN CONNECTION WITH
PERSONNEL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT,
WITH FEES FOR SUCH SERVICES NOT TO EXCEED
$20,000; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM
THE SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS,
CONTINGENT FUND.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Attorney's engagement of the Law Firm of Weiss, Serota
& Helfman, P.A. to serve as counsel to the City of Miami in connection with personnel
matters pertaining to the Department of Community Development is hereby approved, in
an amount not to exceed $20,000, with funds therefor hereby allocated for said services
from the Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.

ENCLOSURES
A personnel investigation of the Department of Community Development is
presently being conducted. Because the investigation may lead to disciplinary action
and/or subsequent litigation involving employees of this client department, the City
Attorney has determined that there is a potential for a conflict of interest in representing
the City. Therefore, it is respectfully requested that the engagement of Weiss, 5erota &
Helfinan, P.A. be approved for purposes of representing the City's interest in connection
with personnel matters pertaining to the Department of Community Development. An
amount not to exceed $20,000 is requested for said services.
