RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION CODESIGNATING SOUTHWEST 19TH
STREET FROM SOUTHWEST 17TH AVENUE TO
SOUTHWEST 22ND AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
"ROCKY RAISEN WAY"; FURTHER, DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF
PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED AGENCIES.
WHEREAS, Morton "Rocky" Raisen, a resident of Miami for the
past forty years, has enhanced our community with the enthusiasm,
patience and understanding he has shown as a teacher to
generations of students at Shenandoah Jr. High School; and
WHEREAS, during his years at Shenandoah Jr. High School, Mr.
Raisen won the love and respect of his students and the
appreciation of the entire school community; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Raisen is held in the highest esteem by all who
know him for his dedication to his teaching profession and his
commitment to his students; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 10761, adopted July 12, 1990, created
the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee and entrusted
said Committee with the responsibility of reviewing street
codesignation requests and making recommendations to the City
Commission in its determination as to whether or nor a street
should be codesignated or a marker or plaza should be designated;
and

WHEREAS, pursuant to the City Commission's directive, the
Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee, at its meeting of
June 20, 1995, reviewed the Administration's proposal and
recommended the codesignation of Southwest 19th Street from
Southwest 17th Avenue to Southwest 22nd Avenue, Miami, Florida,
as "Rocky Raisen Way";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings set forth in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby codesignates
Southwest 19th Street from Southwest 17th Avenue to Southwest
22nd Avenue as "Rocky Raisen Way".
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to
instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to the Police Department, Fire -Rescue Department,
Department of General Services Administration/Solid Waste, Dade
County Public Works Department and United States Postal Service.

Section 4. This Resolution shell become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

RECOMMENDATION
The City of Miami Street Codesignation Committee recommends that
the City of Miami Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the codesignation of Southwest 19 Street from
Southwest 17 Avenue to Southwest 22 Avenue as "Rocky Raisen Way".
BACKGROUND
Morton "Rocky" Raisen has resided in Miami for the past forty
years, enhancing our community with his enthusiasm, patience and
understanding. Mr. Raisen is held in the highest esteem by all
who know of his dedication to his teaching profession and for his
commitment to his students. During his many years at Shenandoah
Jr. high School, Mr. Raisen was not just a loved and respected
teacher, but also an indispensable member of the school staff.
