RESOLUTION NO. 9 697
A RESOLUTION CODESIGNATING NORTHWEST 14TH
STREET FROM NORTHWEST 10TH AVENUE TO
NORTHWEST 14TH AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS
"JOHN B. MOBLEY WAY"; FURTHER, DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF
PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS
RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED AGENCIES.
WHEREAS, John B. Mobley, was an essential part of our
community for more than fifty years before his untimely death;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mobley was instrumental in the creation of
Little,League Baseball both nationally and in Florida; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Mobley was a former member of the Dade County
School Board, the Hungarian Relief Fund, and contributed to the
creation of the Miami Mounted Police Detail; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 10761, adopted July 12, 1990, created
the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee and entrusted
said Committee with the responsibility of reviewing street
codesignation requests and making recommendations to the City
Commission in its determination as to whether or nor a street
should be codesignated or a marker or plaza should be designated;
and

Resolution No,
WHEREAS, pursuant to the City Commission's directive, the
Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee, at its meeting of
June 20, 1995, reviewed the Administration's proposal and
recommended the codesignation of Northwest 14th Street from
Northwest loth Avenue to Northwest 14th Avenue, Miami, Florida,
as "John B. Mobley Way";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings set forth in the
Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference
thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this
Section.
Section 2. The Miami City Commission hereby codesignates
Northwest 14th Street from Northwest 10th Avenue to Northwest
14th Avenue as "John B. Mobley Way".
Section 3. The City Manager is hereby directed to
instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to the Police Department, Fire -Rescue Department,
Department of General Services Administration/Solid Waste, Dade
County Public Works Department and United States Postal Service.

Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.

RECOMMENDATION
The City of Miami Street Codesignation Committee recommends that
the City of Miami Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the codesignation of N.W. 14th Street from N.W. loth
Avenue to N.W. 14th Avenue as "John B. Mobley Way ".
BACKGROUND
John B. Mobley was an essential part of our community making
Miami his home for fifty years. Mr. Mobley was held in the
highest esteem by all who knew him for his contributions to the
creation of Little League Baseball in Florida as well as
nationally, the Miami Mounted Police Detail, and the Hungarian
Relief Fund.
