HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-95-0691J-95-782 8/24/95 RESOLUTION NO. 9 5 " G '91 A RESOLUTION FORMALIZING THE APPOINTMENT OF VICE -MAYOR J. L. PLUMMER, JR. AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER TRUST (PACT) FOR A TERM AS DESIGNATED HEREIN. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 95-639, adopted July 13, 1995, Vice -Mayor J. L. Plummer, Jr. and Commission Victor H. De Yurre were appointed to serve as members of the Board of Directors of the Performing Arts Trust ("PACT"), to fill the remainder of unexpired terms to expire on December 31, 1995; and WHEREAS, PACT requires that individuals appointed by the various member agencies must first be nominated by the PACT Nominating Committee for appointment consideration; and WHEREAS, Vice -Mayor Plummer was not included in the proffered slate when the City Commission made its appointments on July 13th; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has advised the PACT Nominating Committee of the City Commissions desire to appoint Vice -Mayor J. L. Plummer, Jr. as a member to PACT; and WHEREAS, the PACT Nominating Committee has reconsidered its slate of nominees and has revised said slate to include Vice - Mayor J. L. Plummer, Jr.; and CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF S E P 2 S 1995 Revolution No, WHEREAS, it is now necessary to formalize Vice -Mayor Plummer's appointment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The appointment of Vice -Mayor J. L. Plummer, Jr. to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Performing Arts Center Trust (PACT), is hereby formalized, said term to expire December 31, 1995. Section 2. CLARK, MAYOR DATE : August 2, 1995 FILE AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION SUBJECT : One Appointment to the Performing Arts Center Trust FIR REFERENCES: alter J. an September 14 Agenda City Clerk ENCLOSURES: At the City Commission meeting of July 13, 1995, the City Commission appointed Vice Mayor Plummer and Commissioner De Yurre to the Performing Arts Center Trust (PACT), Commissioner De Yurre's name was included in the slate proffered by the Performing Arts Center Trust Nominating Committee, but Vice Mayor Plummer's name was not included. Our office has requested a new slate from said Nominating Committee including Vice Mayor Plummer's name. Ms. Susan Camp, Administrator for PACT, informed us that said slate would be submitted to the City on September 12th, after PACT Nominating Committee has had a chance to meet. We will submit same to you as soon as it is received. The City Commission is to formalize its appointment of Vice Mayor Plummer after receiving such slate. Nominating Committee The Nominating Committee shall consist of five voting members of the Corporation. At least thirty days prior to each annual meeting of the Corporation, and as frequently as is necessary to fill vacancies in unexpired terms of Directors, the Nominating Committee shall prepare and submit -to the Board of County Commissioners and to the appropriate City Commissions or to the School Board a slate of nominees for the election of Directors. Other candidates whose consent has been obtained may be placed in nomination for expired terms by the written petition of any five voting members of the Corporation. Any such petition shall be filed with the Secretary at least fifteen days prior to the annual meeting and shall be announced with the Nominating Committee's slate to the Board of County Commissioners. For each vacancy the Nominating Committee shall submit the names of three nominees. The Board of County Commissioners, and each City Commission and the School Board will select one Director from the three names submitted by the Nominating Committee or other names duly submitted by petition. If the Board of County Commissioners, or either City Commission or the School Board does not find the Nominating Committee's slate acceptable or any of the other names submitted to it by written petition acceptable, it may request the Nominating Committee to submit a new slate.
