RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION RELATED TO THE EVENTS TO BE HELD
IN THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, IN OCTOBER,
1995, IN CELEBRATION OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY
OF THE UNITED NATIONS ("UN5011) TO BE
CONDUCTED BY THE UNITED NATIONS ASSOCIATION
OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, GREATER
MIAMI CHAPTER, AUTHORIZING THE FOLLOWING: (1)
ALLOCATION OF AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,000
FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, ACCOUNT
NO. 921002-690, AS SEED CAPITAL FOR A CIVIC
LUNCHEON TO BE HELD AT THE CROWN PLAZA HOTEL
ON OCTOBER 24, 1995; (2) USE OF THE CITY LOGO
ON PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS AND INVITATIONS FOR
SAID LUNCHEON; (3) WAIVER OF ALL WAIVABLE
FEES FOR USE OF THE GUSMAN CENTER FOR A UN50
CEREMONY ON OCTOBER 24, 1995, SAID WAIVER
BEING CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS: (A)
PAYING FOR ALL OTHER NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY
SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH
SAID EVENT, (B) OBTAINING INSURANCE TO
PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED
BY THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE, AND (C)
COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS
AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR
HIS DESIGNEE; AND (4) ISSUANCE OF A CITY
PROCLAMATION IN RECOGNITION OF THE UN50;
FURTHER, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
PROVIDE SECURITY, AS NEEDED, FOR THE
OFFICIALS ATTENDING SAID EVENTS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following authorizations are hereby given
in support of the events to be held in the City of Miami,
Florida, in October 1995, in celebration of the 50th Anniversary
of the United Nations ("UN5011) to be conducted by the United
Nations Association of the United States of America, Greater
Miami Chapter: (1) allocation of an amount not to exceed $15,000

from Special Programs and Accounts, Account No. 921002-690, as
seed capital for a civic luncheon to be held at the Crown Plaza
Hotel on October 24, 1995; (2) use of the city logo on
promotional materials and invitations for said luncheon; (3)
waiver of all waivable fees for use of the Gusman Center for a
UN50 ceremony on October 24, 1995, said waiver being conditioned
upon the organizers: (A) paying for all other necessary costs of
city services and applicable fees associated with said event; (B)
obtaining insurance to protect the city in the amount as
prescribed by the City Manager or his designee; and (C) complying
with all conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the
City Manager or his designee; and (4) issuance of a City
proclamation in recognition of the UN50.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby directed to
provide security, as needed, for the officials attending said
events.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption.
