GIBBONS, AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $11,000.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 331053, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 589301-860; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS ACQUISITION. WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation needs to fence an additional piece of property recently added to African Square Park at a proposed total cost of $11,000.00, under existing Dade County Contract No. 4641-0/96 by Ronald M. Gibbons; and WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation has obtained input from the community as to the long term improvement needs of African Square Park. Both staff and the community have placed the installation of fencing at the park as a high priority item in the master plan of the park renovation; and WHEREAS, funds for this acquisition are available from Capital Improvement Project No. 331053, Account Code No. 569301-860; and j cm commSSII7N -KEETMG OF J U L 1 3 1995 Resolution No. 95` 587 k WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation recommend the service be acquired from Ronald M. Gibbons, under an existing Dade County Contract No. 4641-0/96 for a total proposed cost of $11,000.00; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The installation of steel picket fencing at African Square Park at a proposed total cost of $11,000.00 by Ronald M. Gibbons, is hereby approved, with funds therefor hereby allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. 331053, Account Code 589301-860. Section 3. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a purchase order for this acquisition.. Section 4. Odio FROM: City Manager REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: \ RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the installation of a steel picket fence at African Square Park by Ronald M. Gibbons, located at 1301 N.W. 198 Street, Miami, Florida, 33169 a Black -owned firm, under a currently effective Metropolitan Dade County Contract #4641-0/96, at total cost of $11,000. Funds for this improvement are to be provided from the Capital Improvement Program Project No. 331053, "African Square Renovations." BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks and Recreation has obtained community input as to the long term improvement needs of African Square Park. Both staff and the community have placed the fencing of an additional parcel of land adjacent to the park which was recently purchased by the Cit3, as a high priority item in the master plan for the park renovation. Metropolitan Dade County has a currently effective contract, No. 4641-0/96 for the construction and installation of a steel picket fence. Ronald M. Gibbons was the lowest responsive and responsible bidder to that competitive sealed bid. We therefore recommend authorization to procure the services of Ronald M. Gibbons for the installation of a steel picket fence at African Square` Park. This department received Community Development Block Grant which will provide the necessary financing for this project.
